Growing up in the west, the artist credits early women mentors who gave her the tools to follow the creative spirit and path of intellectual adventure. As with many women in the professions, the path to fulfilling artistic dreams has not been without delays and detours. Even in the "fallow" years, she sought to live a creative life, cultivated seeing the world as an artist, and solving problems as an artist would. There was never any doubt about her identity as an artist.

"It's all visual research" says the artist about her wanderings through Southwest canyons and along high country trails. Knowledge and love of the country are prerequisites for her landscape paintings. The influence of nature is an inescapable fact of western life.
